China ensures its continued support in combating terrorism in Pakistan both socially and economically. China believes in strong bilateral relations, especially as the recent attack on Chinese citizens in Pakistan tested the resilience of their relationship.
Reportedly, during a regular press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian, when asked about the recent attack on Chinese citizens in Pakistan, stated that China will continue to support Pakistan in countering terrorism in every possible way.
Lin described the recent attack on Chinese citizens as a test of the Pak-China bilateral relationship, stating, “Attempts to undermine mutual trust won’t succeed.” He emphasized that these targeted terrorist attacks on Chinese citizens in Pakistan were attempts to tarnish the iron-clad friendship between the two states.
Lin assured, “China will continue to support Pakistan in fighting terrorism,” underscoring Beijing’s unwavering resolve to assist Pakistan in countering threats that risk destabilizing the region. “The terrorists will pay the price,” he added.
He affirmed China’s commitment to the security of Chinese nationals working on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, stating, “We are firm in our commitment to protecting the safety and security of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions overseas.”
Lin added that China continues its support for Pakistan’s socioeconomic development and its economic partnership through CPEC, despite security challenges.
It is worth mentioning that Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong previously expressed frustration over repeated attacks on Chinese nationals in Pakistan. However, Lin’s remarks reaffirm China’s enduring support and strong friendship with Pakistan
