Prime Minister Imran Khan has launched Naya Pakistan Sehat Card scheme for each family living in Punjab. The scheme offers an annual health insurance cover of Rs 1 million to each family in the province.
As per APP’s report, the prime minister has launched Naya Pakistan Sehat Card scheme for the whole Punjab. From January 2022, each family in Punjab would be able to use Rs 1 million annually as a health insurance cover at both private and public hospitals.
Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister said that private sector would now build infrastructure in rural areas where the poor would now have enough money to pay for their treatment.
He also said that it is not a health scheme rather it is a health system that will lead Pakistan towards becoming a welfare state.
He said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) founded a welfare state when he had not enough resources that means bringing humanity to a nation was more important than waiting for enough resources.
That was the precedent that was needed to be followed but unfortunately previous governments kept waiting for enough resources and projects like this remained unattended.
He also mentioned that the government has launched Ehsaas Rashan Scheme for those whose monthly income is below 50,000. Such families may be able to but ghee, flour and pulses at 30% subsidized rate, he added.
