COVID-19: NCOC bans huge gatherings, increases restrictions

 

The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has decided to ban big public get-togethers and increase restrictions in the risky areas due to a surge in the COVID-19 cases.

The decision was made in the NCOC meeting which was held in Islamabad on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar. The meeting also went through the statistic data of the epidemic its spread in the country.

The meeting recommended some serious steps to National Coordination Committee (NCC) to control the spread of the epidemic.

The measures suggested by the NCOC are restriction on public get-togethers of above five hundred people, early and long winter vacation, instant shut down of cinemas, theatres and shrines, and merely open-air dining till 10 pm at restaurants and take away.

For marriage functions, the NCOC said that only open-air marriages with maximum five hundred people will be given permission from November 20.

The meeting was informed that there was an upward trend in the corona cases in educational institutes and it should end there.

It was decided in the meeting that federal minister for education would sit with the NCOC on November 16 along with provincial education ministers to assess the increasing ration of COVID-19 cases in educational institutes.

It was also decided in the meeting that after discussing the issue with federal and provincial educational ministers and other relevant authorities, the suggestions would be shared with the provinces for further action.
