On Monday morning, the federal government constituted a Joint Task Force to identify Perpetrators involved in malicious propaganda against the state.
Reportedly, after the November 25 incident, the alleged reports and news have been circulated on social media regarding the extra-judicial killing of Pakistan Tareek e Insaf workers during the protest. The alleged reports also claimed that federal security forces carried out straight fire on unarmed workers resulting killing of over 50 workers.
To address such issues, the federal government established the ‘Joint Task Force’(JTF) to identify individual groups and organizations involved in creating and spreading fake and misleading news against the state.
The federal government decided to take firm actions against all multiple domestic and foreign-based media platforms that are being used to create and spread baseless news depicting the State as involved in committing serious human rights violations.
Moreover, such campaigns disturb the law-and-order situation in the state and create restlessness among the citizens of the state.
The JFT was formed after the approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, this campaign is aimed at creating serious law and order situation in the country and foment provincialism and ethnic cleavages for specific political interests.
According to a report published by The News, the JTF’s responsibilities include (a) identifying the people, organisations, and groups responsible for producing and disseminating false information about political miscreants in Islamabad from November 24–27, including the full media campaign surrounding the issue, (b) tracking down and tracing the people or groups involved in this malicious campaign, whether they are in Pakistan or overseas and (iii) proposing steps to reduce policy gaps
JFT shall consist of a 10-members and to bring all culprits to justice at the earliest, the JFT will present its findings within ten days.
