Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the low-cost residential units in the capital’s Farash Town on Thursday.
According to the details, the prime minister inaugurated the project of 4,000 low-cost residential apartments in Islamabad’s Farash Town. At least 600 out of these 4,000 apartments will be distributed among the slum dwellers.
Other 2,000 apartments will be allotted to the registered members under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme, while 1,600 units will be sold out on market prices by the Capital Development Authority.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed among the Naya Pakistan Housing Development Authority (NPHDA), Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and these three stakeholders will jointly work on the project.
Talking to media on the occasion, the prime minister said the project would shelter the poor stratum of the society, particularly the working class and labourers.
He further said that owners of the houses would be able to move into their houses within two years’ time.
He also said all the issues in getting bank loans would be resolved and the process would be simplified after consulting with the banks.
The prime minister added that CDA would be working on the uplift of all the slum areas in Islamabad in near future.
Naya Pakistan Housing Development Authority Chairman General (retd) Anwar Ali Hyder said on the occasion that 2,000 individuals who had already been registered with the project would be given flats through ballot after proper verification from NADRA.
