Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) imprisoned founder Imran Khan warned the government to launch a ‘civil disobedience’; movement, if his demands are not fulfilled.
Reportedly, following the recent failure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) “do-or-die” protest, imprisoned PTI founder Imran Khan has warned the government to launch a “civil disobedience” movement if his demands are not fulfilled.
As per Imran Khan’s statement issued on his official X (formerly Twitter), Imran Khan claimed to have a “trump card’. The statement also announced to constitution of a five-member negotiation committee comprising Omar Ayub Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Salman Akram Raja, and Asad Qaiser.
The committee would negotiate with the federal government on two points, first, the release of “political prisoners” facing trial, and second, the events of May 9, 2023, and a late-night crackdown on PTI protesters on November 26 would be investigated by the constitution of a judicial commission to probe and late-night crackdown on PTI protesters on November 26.
“If these two demands are not accepted, a civil disobedience movement will be launched from December 14 and the government will be responsible for the result,” the statement added.
Imran Khan also announced a “grand gathering” in Peshawar on December 13 to pay tribute to the martyrs of November 26 that allegedly killed during the PTI’s Islamabad protest by the government.
The Supreme Court should take notice of the incident of November 26 and play its constitutional role in locating the hundreds of missing PTI workers, Khan demanded.
“We approached the Supreme Court, Lahore, and Islamabad high courts over serious violations of human rights, but no action was taken,” he added.
