Monitoring Desk

Jamat e Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has asked the government to cut the price of petrol by Rs 30 per litre due to a notable decline in the crude oil prices in the global market.

As per a report published by Express News on Wednesday, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the price of petrol in the global market has gone below $67 per barrel while the government is charging an addition tax of Rs 60 per liter that is not fair.

The JI chief asked the government to immediately decrease the petrol prices in the country in line with the decreasing petroleum prices in the global market. He also said that the decrease in petroleum prices would lessen the financial burden of a common man and improve the economic activity in the country.

Earlier, the government increased the price of high speed diesel by Rs 5 per litre with a justification of fluctuation in petroleum prices in the global market. However, the rates of petrol remained the same at Rs 247.03 for the next two weeks.

Keeping in view the declining petroleum prices in the global market, it is also expected that the government might reduce the prices of petroleum products from tomorrow November 1, 2024.

CT Analysis:

It is important to mention that the prices petroleum products are crucial in driving the economic situation of a country. From textile to food industries, the transportation costs determine the prices of the goods. In the given circumstances, if the petroleum prices go down in the global market, the government must pass on the relief to the masses so that they may also enjoy the economic relief. Hafiz Naeemue Rehman’s demand of cutting the price of petrol by Rs 30 per litre at this point of time can be a great source of relief if accepted by the current government.
