She informed participants of her vision to transform 100,000 acres of barren land in South Punjab into productive shrimp farming areas, potentially bringing in over a billion dollars in revenue.
The CM also encouraged farmers and investors to participate in the shrimp farming projects, which could generate between 10,000 and 20,000 jobs. The government of Punjab will provide farmers and investors with leased lands, incentives, and necessary equipment.
It is worth mentioning that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated Pakistan’s largest pilot project for shrimp farming in Jhalarin North, a suburban area of Muzaffargarh, on September 24. This marked a significant step in the country’s aquaculture industry. While addressing the audience, she said, “There is a huge demand for shrimp worldwide, and we must capitalize on it. Shrimp farming on 100,000 acres can generate up to one billion dollars in foreign exchange, with a potential profit margin of up to 40 percent.”
