The National Action Plan (NAP) apex committee approved a full-fledged military operation to target and eliminate militancy and separatist movements in Balochistan.
As per details, on Tuesday, the NAP committee decided to rid Balochistan of extremist and separatist elements. The committee urged the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) to step forward and fulfill its responsibilities.
NACTA was established under the slogan *Azm-i-Istehkam* to eradicate terrorism from the country. To revitalize NACTA, the National and Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Centre was also established.
The NAP committee meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who expressed a strong commitment to dismantling the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which has been involved in recent attacks on civilians and security forces in the province.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Asim Munir, all chief ministers, the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, federal cabinet members, and senior officials.
According to a press release from the PM’s Office, all participants unanimously approved a comprehensive military operation against terrorist organizations in Balochistan, including the Majeed Brigade, BLA, BLF (Balochistan Liberation Front), and BRAS (Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar).
These militant organizations have been involved in targeting innocent civilians and foreign nationals, creating insecurity, and disrupting Pakistan’s economic progress.
The COAS reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s firm stance on eliminating all forms of threats to national security. He also pledged the Army’s full support to the government in its initiatives to ensure peace and stability in the country.
The apex committee emphasized the importance of *Reinvigorating Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Campaign* and highlighted the need for a unified political stance and a consistent national narrative.
It was stressed that political support across party lines and a complete national consensus are critical to revitalizing the counterterrorism campaign under the framework of Vision Azm-i-Istehkam
