Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump on becoming the 47th President of the United States (US).
As per the details, following Trump’s victory speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to social media platforms to congratulate him on his return to the White House and his second presidential victory.
Shehbaz also expressed hopes of working closely with the Trump administration to strengthen and broaden Pakistan-US relations.
Trump is the first US president elected to non-consecutive terms for the second time. In his victory speech, Trump said, “America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate.”
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) imprisoned founder Imran Khan also congratulated Republicans on social media, stating, “The will of the American people held against all odds.” He added that Trump would play his role in promoting world peace, human rights, and democracy.
Leader of Opposition in National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, extended congratulations to Trump and his Vice President, JD Vance, expressing hope that they would foster better relations between the people of both nations.
Bilawal Bhutto hoped that the new US administration would prioritize world peace and work to end cycles of conflict globally.
It is worth mentioning that PTI supporters have high hopes that the Trump administration will advocate for the release of PTI founder Imran Khan from jail, reflecting a desire for US’ involvement in Pakistan’s internal affairs.
However, there is no evidence from the US presidential election campaign that Trump mentioned Imran Khan’s imprisonment. Political analysts and experts strongly disagree with this perception, emphasizing that US national interests are unlikely to shift over an individual political leader in Pakistan.
