International Mother Language Day was observed in Islamabad, Lahore, across the country, and in the world.
As per details, International Mother Language Day was observed on Friday in Islamabad, Lahore, Sindh and various parts of the country.
Lahore Press Club actively participated in the celebration by organizing a festival under the theme of “Multilingual education–a necessity to transform education”.
Many women, children, students, politicians, Punjabi language activists, and civil society members participated in a colourful event.
The festival was attended by senior PPP leader Chaudhry Manzoor Husain, PNM founder and Chairman Ammar Shah Punjabi, Vice President Kaleemullah Cheema, Bhulekha News Chief Editor Mudassar Butt, Punjabi Adabi Board President Mushtaq Soofi and Secretary Parveen Malik, Daily Lokai Chief Editor Jamil Paul, Punjabi poet and broadcaster Afzal Saahir, and Aamir Riaz TuTu.
Punjabi book stalls were also set up at the event.
Former spokesperson of Balochistan, Farah Azeem Shah, also attended the festival in connection with Mother Language Day, where she was gifted a traditional Punjabi turban.
A three-day festival regarding the importance of Sindhi and other local languages started at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, Islamabad.
Cultural and literary festivities are the hallmark of the event.
A walk was organized to support the Punjabi language in the federal capital.
All the participants were carrying placards and banners with slogans in support of mother languages.
