Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is going on an official visit to Egypt to participate in the 11th Summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) countries being held in Cairo from December 18 to 20.
As per details, Prime Minister House confirmed PM Shehbaz Sharif’s official visit to Egypt along with Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar to participate in the 11th Summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) countries under the theme of “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy”.
Foreign Office spokesperson informed that “at the Summit, the prime minister will underline the importance of investing in youth and SMEs for building a strong and inclusive economy; creating jobs; advancing innovation; and promoting local entrepreneurship”.
“He will express Pakistan’s strong commitment to the ideals of D-8; underscore the importance of fostering partnerships for mutual benefit and prosperity; and promoting cooperation in agriculture, food security and tourism,” the statement further added.
According to the statement, the PM will also highlight Pakistan’s importance for youth empowerment and financial development.
The D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation was established on June 15, 1997, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye are its member states. Egypt will be hosting D-8 summit for the second time.
The aim of establishing this cooperation is to improve the position of member states in the world economy by creating new opportunities in trade relations, enhancing participation in decision-making at the international level, and improving the standard of living in the member states.
It is worth mentioning here that it is also expected that Prime Minister to hold bilateral meetings in the sidelines of the summit.
