PM Shehbaz Unveils 3-Year Plan for Youth Training and Jobs

 Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss a three-year plan for the professional training of youth and their employability.

Reportedly, Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held an inter-ministerial meeting to discuss a three-year plan for the professional training of youth and their employability. A detailed presentation on the professional training of manpower in the fields of information technology, industry, nursing, and other areas for seeking jobs in Pakistan and abroad was given to the Prime Minister.

Federal ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health Dr Mukhtar Ahmed Bharath, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Mukhtar Ahmed and high level officers attended the meeting.

Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged capable manpower as a real asset of Pakistan.

He ensured that the priority of the government was to equip the youth with professional training as per the emerging demand at the international level.

He ordered the concerned department to increase and develop the nursing training institution according to international standards to meet domestic and international demands.

He agreed that the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) would be given all required funding for the professional training of youth.

Shehbaz Sharif asked the NAVTTC should blacklist the training institutions which had bad performance and encourage those showing good results.

Ministries of information technology, overseas Pakistanis, NAVTTC ,and health presented their professional youth training programs.

The meeting was briefed that NAVTTC had trained 60,000 youth this year and aims to train an additional 141,000 by June 2025. In 2026, the target is to train 250,000 youth, followed by 337,000 in 2027 across various fields.

It was highlighted that over 29,000 individuals trained under NAVTTC have secured employment in Saudi Arabia. The plan is to professionally train 40,000 youth in 2025, 100,000 in 2026, and 150,000 in 2027 to meet job demands in Saudi Arabia.

Additionally, there are goals to place 50,000 trained Pakistanis in international jobs by December 2025, increasing to 100,000 in 2026 and 200,000 in 2027.

The meeting was informed about ongoing efforts to accredit Pakistani training institutes with international bodies, aiming for recognition from 72 institutions by June 2025.

Updates were also provided on the survey assessing industry skill demands, the introduction of modern curricula, local institute accreditations, and trainer licensing.

More than 2,500 madrasa students have received vocational training, with plans to train 3,000 more by June 2025, 20,000 in 2026, and 30,000 in 2027. These programs are available across all four provinces, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

The Ministry of Information Technology shared its goal to train over 92,000 youth in advanced IT courses and equip 2.1 million freelancers over the next three years.

The meeting also covered the development of the National ICT Skills Ecosystem, designed to enhance job opportunities for youth both locally and abroad.

Further briefings addressed training programs in the nursing sector, the global demand for Pakistani nurses, and employment prospects abroad, along with a proposed roadmap for nursing sector reforms.
