Quetta Railway Station on Saturday was attacked by a suicide bomber leaving 26 dead and 62 injured. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed the responsibility for the deadly attack quoting in statement that a suicide bomber targeted the army men present at the Quetta Railway Station.
As per details, on Saturday morning at 8:45AM when around 100 passengers including army men at the Quetta Railway Station were waiting for a train, a suicide attack was made by the BLA. A total of 26 people including 12 soldiers and six railway employees died while 62 others got injured.
The BLA is a separatist group in Balochistan that is involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Balochistan and other parts of the country. However, it is the first time that the center of the city Quetta has been attacked by the BLA.
While talking to a news channel, Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind said that Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti had called an emergency meeting to review the law and order situation in the province. He also said that Bugti had cancelled his foreign visit and would return to Pakistan soon.
Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani condemned the attack saying that the attackers were the enemies of the humanity and all the possible measures would be taken to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that such cowardly attacks could not weaken our resolve and the terrorists behind this attack would be brought to justice.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman condemned the attack and said that repeated terrorist activities in Balochistan are raising questions regarding the security situation in the country.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that back to back incidents of terrorism in the country were quite concerning. He also asked the government to give better treatment facilities to the injured ones.
