The Punjab government is closing Ramzan Bazars across the province from 27th of Ramzan ul Muabark (tomorrow).
Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that Ramadan Bazar are operational from today across the province and 313 such markets will provide essential commodities to public at subsidized prices.
Usman Buzdar, in a statement, said that government will take necessary steps to protect common man from effects of inflation.
CM Punjab further said that the steps that were taken to control price of sugar are now yielding results. He reiterated that no one will be allowed to exploit the poor.
The provincial government has also issued a notification of shutting down the bazaars across the province so now today was the last day for people to buy necessary items for their remaining fasting days.
The step was taken apparently in view of the surging coronavirus cases in the province.
The decision to end the Ramazan Bazaars was taken after consultation with the Punjab Chief Secretary and Provincial Minister for Food.
A copy of the notification was also sent to the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, Punjab food and agriculture departments and other concerned departments.
The Ramazan Bazaars were established in Punjab last month at the start of the holy month of Ramazan with a discount of up to 25 percent on flour, sugar, pulses, vegetables and other items from the government.
According to a notification issued by the assistant director (Prices) on Sunday – May 9, referring to the decision of a video link meeting on Price Control and Ramzan Package held on 3-5-2021 under the chairmanship of Minister for Food and Chief Secretary, Punjab, all the Ramzan Bazars across the province will be closed on the evening of 27th of Ramzan ul Mubarak.
