Imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan said that he would not let Al-Qadir University fall into the hands of the ruling Sharif family on Saturday.

Reportedly, soon after Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana gave a 14-year sentence to Imran Khan and a seven-year sentence to his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust University case, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the varsity “is now under my control” and scholarships would also be given to its students.

A day after the convicted in a £190 million case, PTI founder Imran Khan that he would not let Al-Qadir University fall into the hands of the ruling Sharif family on Saturday.\

His remarks came in response of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz comment about the taking control of the university. .

Quoting Khan, Lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said: “I will not bow down to any pressure.”

Federal government Negotiation committee spokesperson Senator Irfan Siddiqui has disapproved the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) meeting with the top military leadership.

As per details, the federal government negotiation committee spokesperson, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, discouraged the meeting of PTI leaders with top military leadership.

The senator said on Saturday, “There is no point in peeking through small doors and windows now. If the door they had been striving to open for a year is now open, then they should abandon these minor efforts”.

Siddiqui informed that he has all the details of the conversations,”Barrister Gohar reportedly stated that both backdoor and front-door processes for negotiations will continue. However, negotiations cannot be conducted simultaneously through multiple channels,” he added.

Senator Siddiqui pointed out that both PTI founder Imran Khan and Aleema Khan welcomed the meeting between Barrister Gohar and military officials.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the Qadir Trust University, “is now under my control” and scholarships would also be given to its students on Friday.

Reportedly, after Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana gave a 14-year sentence to Imran Khan and a seven-year sentence to his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust University case, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the varsity “is now under my control” and scholarships would also be given to its students.

While addressing the event of Honhaar Scholarship Programme at the University of Okara, CM Maryam said,”the court has handed over control of the varsity to the government following the verdict of the £190 million case.”

The judge directed the authorities to hand over the custody of Al-Qadir Trust University to the federal government led by CM Maryam’s uncle Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

She said that “theft has been proven in the Al-Qadir Trust case as its verdict came in today. “Imran Khan is the first [former] prime minister who has been caught red-handed while committing corruption.”

Maryam Nawaz further said that she saw a video of some students who had invited her to visit them. “Students will get religious and conventional education at the varsity and I will also award scholarships and laptops to them,”

“I want to hand over scholarships to our children, not petrol bombs. Those children who have been given petrol bombs are now in jail. They were encouraged to attack police and blindly believe whatever content they watch on social media.”

She encouraged students to be the driving force behind the province’s advancement, “Your energy is what I need because you all are my core strength. To bring development to this province, I rely on your dedication”.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)founder Imran Khan’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry confirmed the fourteen years imprisonment of Iman Khan and seven years imprisonment of Bushra Bibi in 190 Million Pounds Al-Qadir Trust Case.

As per details, Imran Khan’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry confirmed the media that Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana gave a 14-year sentence to Imran Khan and a seven-year sentence to his wife Bushra Bibi in a makeshift courtroom at Adiala Jail

Judge Nasir also imposed a one million rupees fine on PTI founder and five hundred thousand rupees on his wife Bushra Bibi.in 190 Million Pounds Al-Qadir Trust Case.

According to the verdict, property of the “sham trust ‘Al-Qadir University Project Trust’ is hereby forfeited to the Federal Government within the meaning of Section 10(a) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999”.

“Both the convicts are present before the Court, they be taken into custody in this case and be handed over to the Superintendent Jail along with the Committal Warrant to serve the sentences so awarded,” it added.

The court ordered to take Al-Qadir University into official custody.

Chaudhry informed that Bushra Bibi expressed her firm support for Khan, saying: “I stand with him and will continue to do so.”

Khan’s lawyer remained hopeful, proclaiming: “We will win this match. This is a match for justice and fairness in the country, and Imran Khan will emerge victorious.”

Imran’s X account, citing his message from jail, asked his supporters not to lose hope ,“I will never accept this dictatorship, and I am prepared to remain in a prison cell for as long as it takes in the struggle against this tyranny. I will not compromise on my principles or the fight for the true freedom of the nation,” the post said, adding “I will not strike any deals and will face all the baseless cases against me.”

“Following the grim verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case, the judiciary has further eroded its credibility. Judges who support tyranny and act on directives are rewarded. The judges nominated for the Islamabad High Court have only one qualification: delivering rulings against me”. criticising the judiciary, the statement added:

Imran alleged that the case’s outcome was “known to everyone beforehand, “everything was leaked to the media in advance. Such mockery has never been witnessed in the history of the judiciary. The same person who dictated the verdict to the judge also leaked it to the media.”

He further said that it would be useless to continue negotiations with the government,“Dishonest individuals never allow neutral umpires to intervene. The government is avoiding the demand for a judicial commission because it is dishonest.”

Barrister Gohar said, “The behaviour of the court has been unjust. Khan sahib has not benefitted from a single rupee from this matter.”

Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has constituted an opposition committee to address the written charter of demands.

As per details,Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah, while addressing a joint news conference with PML-N leader Irfan Siddiqui confirmed the constitution of the committee by the PM named Opposition Committee.

The Advisor said the Opposition Committee’s draft asks for two inquiry commissions to be set up to investigate the incidents of May 9th and November 26th.

He said as far as May 9th related cases are already pending at different stages in different courts of law.

He said the opposition committee has not provided any substantial material to justify their claims with regards to the number of causalities, injured and missing persons after the incident of 26th November in the Federal Capital.

The Advisor said PTI and its social media are leading a planned and harmful campaign to damage the reputation of Pakistan and its institutions.

In Islamabad, PM Shehbaz Sharif called today’s meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Zahid Khan, the Prime Minister,Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, Engineer Amir Muqam, and the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah.

In meeting, PM discuss the overall political situation in the Pakistan.

He emphasized the development, prosperity, and welfare of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are among the top priorities of the government.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar admitted that he met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Thursday.

As per details, after PTI founder Imran Khan confirmation of meeting between Barrister Gohar and COAS in Peshawar, Barrister Gohar also confirmed while speaking to journalists at the Adiala Jail courtroom that he met with COAS to present all matters and demands directly to him.

“What Imran Khan has said about my meeting with the COAS is correct”, Barrister Gohar confirmed to the journalist.

He called the meeting a positive step towards resolving all issues with the establishment.

Barrister Gohar further said, “I and Ali Amin Gandapur held a meeting with COAS Munir, during which we outlined all of PTI’s concerns and priorities”.

As per sources, the PTI chairman was transported to Peshawar via a helicopter to meet the military’s chief. COAS also met top provincial political leaders and emphasized, “If there is a state, there is politics. God forbid, without a state, there is nothing.”

It is worth mentioning here that the PTI demanded to establishment of two commissions led by the chief justice or three senior judges of the Supreme Court for an investigation into the events related to the May 9, 2023, and November 24 protests, 2024.

The party also urged the federal and provincial governments to support the court orders granting bails or suspending conviction and sentences of all political prisoners.

Saudi Arabia plans $100M investment in Pakistan’s Reko Diq gold and copper mine

Saudia Mining Minister Bandar Alkhorayef told Reuters that Saudi Arabian mining company Manara Minerals was looking forward to investment in Pakistan.

Reportedly, Saudia Mining Minister Bandar Alkhorayef gave an interview to Reuters on the sidelines of the Future Minerals Forum, where he expressed his wish for investment in the mining sector of Pakistan particularly in Reko Diq mine of Balochistan.

He added that the Saudi Development Fund could contribute over $100 million to Pakistan’s mining infrastructure.

Alkhorayef said in an interview,“Part of what we are looking at is how we can help Pakistan also in some infrastructure”.

“Without that infrastructure, the economics of the deal are not attractive, so through the Saudi Development Fund we are thinking about how we can finance it.”

Manara Minerals executives visited Pakistan in May last year for talks about buying a stake in the Reko Diq mine, he added.

Finance Division announces Rs.3.47 increase in petrol price

The Finance Division notified the petrol price increase by Rs.3.47 per liter today.

As per details, according to an official statement, issued on Wednesday, the federal government has decided to increase the petrol price by Rs3.47 per liter today.

According to the Finance Division notification, the per liter price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been increased from Rs258.34 to Rs260.95 after an increase of Rs2.61.

“The Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has worked out the consumer prices of petroleum products because of the fluctuations in the international market in the last fortnight,” official notification stated.

As per notifications, the new fuel prices will be effective from today.

The increase in petroleum prices is the result of to rising international oil prices due to the US sanctions on oil exports to China and India.

Earlier this month, the government had increased the price of petrol by Re0.56 per liter on New Year’s Eve, for the first fortnight of 2025.
