Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved expanding the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme to students from other provinces.
Reportedly, CM Maryam Nawaz met with the High Education officials in Lahore today.
While addressing the meeting, she approved expanding the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme to students from other provinces and the eligibility criteria for Honhaar Scholarships in Punjab would remain the same for students from other provinces.
Maryam Nawaz also confirmed that the number of laptops provided to students in Punjab has increased, raising the total to 110,000.
She formally approved the inclusion of second-year, third-year, and fourth-year students in the Honhaar Scholarship Scheme.
It is worth mentioning here that Maryam Nawaz called for the establishment of a special helpline dedicated to supporting students under the Honhaar Scholarship and Laptop schemes, ensuring smooth access to the benefits.

Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon held a meeting with a Chinese electric vehicle bus manufacturer in Beijing today in Karachi.
As per details, Sharjeel Inam Memon invited the Chineses company to establish an electric vehicle bus manufacturing plant in Karachi.
While speaking on the occasion, Sharjeel said, “Sindh government will provide all facilities to the investors including tax remission, provision of land and making the regulatory process easy.”
“Sindh government is committed to modernizing the transport system in the province and steps are also being taken to reduce omission of carbon”, he added.
It is prominent to mention here that Officials from the Chinese EV Bus company welcomed the invitation extended by the Sindh transport minister and expressed interest in reviewing the investment opportunities in the province.

Reportedly, PM Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif ,in a post on X marking the second anniversary of the devastating earthquake in Turkiye, the Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the Turkish people. He paid tribute to their resilience and strength under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, acknowledging their ability to emerge stronger from the tragedy.
He reiterated that Pakistan and Turkiye have always stood together in difficult times and will continue to do so in the future.

President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Wednesday.
As per details, President Asif Ali Zardari held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, both leaders had a discussion on how to further explore the opportunities and to expand the scope of their partnership.
Both leaders exchange their views on the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0. Both agreed that the CPEC will promote regional connectivity, mutual benefits, and prosperity.
The discussion also emphasized the importance and need of people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges to strengthen the Pakistan-China community of shared future
President Asif Ali Zardari highlighted the unique, time-tested, and special relations between the two countries and said that “China’s exemplary development and prosperity are a manifestation of the vision of the Chinese leadership and vibrancy of the Chinese people”.
Asif Ali Zardari paid rich tribute to President Xi Jinping for China’s cooperation in global development under the Belt and Road Initiative.He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a bright example of mutually beneficial cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
It is worth mentioning here that the after the meeting, both leaders signed the memoranda of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in various fields, including science and technology, media, energy, and socio-economic development.

Reportedly, the newly elected US President Donald Trump hosted the national prayers breakfast. It has been attended by high-ranking personalities from across the globe. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was also invited to attend the breakfast,
As per The News report, the event occurred at 7am in the US capital, Washington. The breakfast continued for around 7 hours till 2pm.
Bilawal was attending Trump’s breakfast ceremony, while his father and President Asif Ali Zardari at the same time were in meeting with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
President Zardari said on this occasion, “We are allies of China first, then of anyone else,”
On the response of one question to a query if it was true that he was invited to attend an event of the new US administration, he said, “As far as my US visit is concerned, this is completely true. I will definitely go for breakfast, a practice that’s continued from my mother’s tenure. There’s a possibility of holding meetings with friends of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto there [as well].
Neither I’m a minister nor a government official so this [trip of mine] is not official or as a representative of the government,”
It is worth mentioning here that PPP Co-chairman Zardari had attended the pre-inauguration oath ceremony of then-US President-elect Trump in Washington, DC in 2017.
Pakistan is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day today to express firm support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their right to self-determination as promised in the United Nations resolutions.
President Asif Ali Zardari in his message on Kashmir Solidarity Day said, “This day reminds the international community of its responsibility towards the oppressed Kashmiri people. The United Nations should honor the promises made to the Kashmiris 78 years ago and support their struggle for their right to self-determination”.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, “the government and people of Pakistan annually observed the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ to renew their steadfast support to the Kashmiri people’s just and legitimate struggle for realizing their right to self-determination”.
“The interest of durable peace in South Asia, the international community should urge India to allow the Kashmiri people to freely determine their own future as a lasting peace could not be achieved by suppressing the genuine aspirations of the local people”, he added.
“The recent developments in the Middle East showed that the long-standing disputes should not be allowed to fester,” the prime minister said in a message on Kashmir Solidarity Day.
“The right to self-determination is a fundamental principle of international law. Every year, the UN General Assembly adopts a resolution that stresses the legal right of people to decide their own destiny”. He further stated.
The prime minister said, “today, the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) remains one of the most-militarised zones in the world. Kashmiris are living in an environment of fear and intimidation.”
The prime mihe political activists and human rights defenders faced prolonged detention and confiscation of properties, adding the political parties, representing the genuine aspirations of the Kashmiri people, had been banned. These oppressive measures intended to crush dissent, he added.
The PM further said that India was also taking steps to consolidate its illegal occupation of the IIOJK.
“Following its illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, India’s efforts have been aimed at engineering demographic and political changes so that the Kashmiris transform into a disempowered community in their own land,” he added.
The prime minister reiterated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute would remain a key pillar of their foreign policy.
“Pakistan will continue to offer its unwavering moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmiri people till the realisation of their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions,” he reiterated.
The prime minister also saluted the resolve and courage of the valiant Kashmiri people, who continued to render innumerable sacrifices in their struggle to achieve their fundamental rights and freedoms.

Today, Pakistan also shows in solidarity not only with the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) but also the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The day starts at 10am in Islamabad, sirens will sound, and a minute of silence will be observed in tribute to Kashmiri martyrs. Afterward, a rally held at Constitution Avenue in Islamabad.
Throughout the country, different posters and billboards depict the struggles and sufferings of the people of occupied Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The AJK Legislative Assembly held a special session to express solidarity with those in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOJK).
A significant tradition is the formation of human chains, formed at Mangla, Kohala, Bararkot, Azad Pattan, and Holar, symbolising unity between Pakistan and AJK.
The rallies and demonstration are held nationwide, in which a large number of political leaders , activities and scholars talk about the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri’s for freedom.
The universities, colleges, think tanks, and media houses organize solidarity walks, seminars, and conferences to discuss the historical, political, and humanitarian aspects of the Kashmir issue.
In mosques, special prayers are offered for the oppressed people of Kashmir.
While television channels and newspapers run documentaries, articles, and talk shows to spread awareness.
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) confirmed Pakistan’s inflation rate has recorded a significant decline, dropping to 2.4% last month—the lowest in nine years.
As per the latest data, inflation has eased considerably from 4.1% in December 2024 and 28.34% in January 2024. The sharp decline marks a major shift in the country’s economic trend, providing much-needed relief to consumers struggling with high living costs.
Economists attribute this decline to improved economic policies, stabilizing fuel prices, and a stronger currency. However, experts caution that maintaining this trend will require consistent economic reforms.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz met the members of Punjab Assembly, belonging to Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, Chakwal, Wazirabad, Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin in Lahore today.
Reportedly, during the meeting, the CM discussed the overall situation in the province, public issues, and constituencies of developmental works.
Maryam Nawaz also directed to complete the Rawalpindi Ring Road by December this year. She also directed the in-time completion of development projects of Rawalpindi and Gujranwala Division.
It is worth mentioning here that during the meeting, the President of PML N Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was also present. He appreciated Maryam Nawaz and said that the difficulties of the public are easing now and the situation in Punjab is improving due to untiring hard work by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur has claimed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan was offered the move to Bani Gala, Nathia Gali, or the Chief Minister House, but Imran Khan refused and insisted on releasing all detained workers before his transfer.

It is worth mentioning here that CM also claimed regarding the November 24 protest that as he approached D-Chowk, he found three PTI workers dead and 12 others injured. “We evacuated the wounded, but I couldn’t take over 100,000 people where bullets were being fired. They were my responsibility,” he added.
