Pakistan Tareek -i-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has requested the Islamabad High Court for an open trial, claiming he is facing multiple false cases in a “controlled environment” inside Adiala Jail.
Reportedly, Imran Khan requested the Islamabad High Court for an open trail. In a petition, he argued that holding his trial inside the jail violates legal and constitutional rights.
He also claimed that his lawyers were being harassed and that international media was not allowed to cover the proceedings, with only a few reporters granted access.
The petition highlighted that since his arrest on August 5, 2023, he has never been presented in an open court, and all hearings have taken place in makeshift courtrooms inside the prison. It also pointed out that the media refers to him as the “PTI founder” instead of using his name.
Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, told the media after meeting him in jail that he plans to send a third letter to Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir next week.
She clarified that previous letters were not written for a deal or personal benefit but to highlight the growing divide between the military and the people.
Aleema quoted Imran Khan as saying he is ready to face all legal cases despite claims that judges are being appointed to prevent him from getting justice.
She insisted that he has no intention of striking a deal but wants unity between the army and the people to fight terrorism.
She also mentioned that the upcoming letter would be open to the public.
