Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan ordered action against National Assembly Member (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat for publicly criticizing the party’s Secretary General Salman Akram Raja.
Reportedly, in the last few days, the two PTI party leaders, Sher Afzal Marwat and Salman Akram Raja, have been engaged in a war of words.
On one of the TV programs Salman Akram Raja remarked about the Sher Afzal Marwat ,”He (Marwat) is invited by different TV channels and daily he issues a statement, which has nothing to do with the party’s narrative or thinking. He does not comprehend the matters and every day says something”.
In the response of this statement, Sher Afzal Marwat directly asked the talk show anchor to, “clarify Raja’s relationship with PTI. When informed that the secretary general had been appointed by “Khan sahab. Have you seen any notification? According to the party constitution, only someone who has contested the intra-party elections can be its Secretary General.”
Marwat went on to say: “If we flout our own party’s constitution, how can we talk about the constitution of Pakistan? He [Raja], who is talking about my understanding of party matters, can’t be made secretary general this way. I tried to remain silent, but he crossed the red line.”
PTI Additional Secretary General Firdaus Shamim Naqvi issued the show-cause notice, accuses Marwat of, “violating party policy by making adverse and disparaging remarks about Raja and the ongoing negotiations with the government”.
The show-cause notice was issued on the clear directives from imprisoned Imran Khan.

The notice says that. “as a member of both the National Assembly and PTI’s core committee, Marwat is fully aware of the party’s policies, including the prohibition against making public comments against party office-bearers”.
“You have, amongst others, made disparaging remarks against the Secretary General of PTI and even made adverse comments on the ongoing negotiations. This is clear violation of the Party Policy and Instructions issued by Founding Chairman, Imran Khan,” the notice added.
Marwat has been given seven days to explain and respond to the notice.
In response to the notice, Marwat said,“On the advice of friends, I have decided to stay away from electronic media for a week or two”.
