Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has written a second open letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir stating that the country’s biggest political party is being “targeted”.

Reportedly, Imran Khan has written a second open letter to Chief of Army Staff COAS) General Asim Munir stating that,

“I wrote an open letter to the Army Chief (you) with sincere intentions for the betterment of the country and the nation, aiming to bridge the growing divide between the military and the public. However, the response was extremely irresponsible and unserious”.

The former Prime Minister endorsed that PTI, Pakistan’s largest political party, is being targeted. He is the leader of the “country’s most popular and largest political party” and has dedicated his entire life to bringing global recognition to the nation.

“My 55 years of public life since the 1970s and my 30 years of earnings are fully transparent. My life and death are solely tied to Pakistan,” the letter read.

Khan also highlighted the issue of the widening gap between the public and the army and expressing his concerns regarding the military’s image and the potential consequences.

Khan also expressed confidence that the six points he had highlighted in his first letter to the COAS were supported by 90 % of the public.

Khan laid down the stressed, “Manipulating election results through pre-poll rigging by intelligence agencies to install a puppet government, forcing the 26th Constitutional Amendment through parliament at gunpoint to control the judiciary and appoint loyal judges, enforcing draconian laws like Peca [Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act] to silence dissent, plunging the country’s economy into chaos through political instability and the ‘might is right’ policy, targeting the nation’s largest political party with state terrorism, and using all state institutions for political engineering and revenge instead of their actual duties — not only are these actions damaging public sentiment, but they are also deepening the divide between the people and the military”.

Prime Minister’s Adviser on Public and Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah termed the letter to COAS General Munir as deliberate efforts on the side of Khan to create divisions between the military and the public or sow misunderstandings within the army’s command.

It is worth mentioning here that Imran Khan in his first letter to the army chief, had demanded to reconsider policies and called for the formation of a judicial commission.
