Information Minister vows to modernize media institutions & strengthen digital reforms

Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar has promised to modernized all institutions worked under the Ministry of Information.

As per details, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar addresses during the oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected officer bearers of APP Employees Union at PBC Broadcasting House in Lahore, promised to modernize all institutions working under the Ministry of Information.

Television Corporation, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, and Associated Press of Pakistan are being digitized through the use of the latest technology, the minister added.

He said a reform process has been introduced in all these institutions.

He informed the participants that the recently established Digital Department has been incorporated with Artificial Intelligence.

He also said that the purpose of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) is to provide protection to journalists and eliminate incidents of harassment besides other crimes.

He called all the stakeholders to come and discuss how to make PECA law more effective.

He said that the now journalists’ community and private sector will also be represented in Digital Media Protection Authority
