Privatisation Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said on Sunday that he had been given the task to sell Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the selling of the national carrier would be done in the best possible way.
While talking to journalists in a press conference, Abdul Aleem Khan said that the framework of the selling of PIA was made in the caretaker government and he could not change the process that had already been decided by the government.
He also said that PIA had a debt of Rs 830 billion, out of which, the amount of Rs 200 is with PIA while the amount of Rs 600 billion is with Holdco Company.
He further said that all the developments in PIA had been made before he took the charge as federal minister for privatisation.
He also said that he was given the responsibility to sell PIA not to put it on the right track. He mentioned that a specific procedure for the privatisation of PIA is already in place and he cannot neglect that. He added that he was not responsible for the current situation of PIA and his sole duty was just to privatise the national carrier.
