Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz were proven nonguilty in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case in Lahore.

Reportedly, an Anti-Corruption Court in Lahore has declared innocent Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case.

The Anti-Corruption Court Judge Sardar Iqbal Dogar announced the verdict in Lahore on Thursday

This case is about allegations that PM Shehbaz, who was the Punjab chief minister at the time, misused his power by using public money to build a sludge carrier to benefit the Ramzan Sugar Mills, which is owned by his sons.

During the hearing, PM Shehbaz and Hamza’s lawyer, Amjad Pervez, argued that the complainant admitted the sludge carrier was built not just for Ramzan Sugar Mills but for the benefit of the local area as well.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram criticized the court’s decision to clear PM Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case. He claimed it was a clear case of corruption but was quickly dismissed through rushed court proceedings.

The court earlier reserved the judgment on 3rd of this month.

It is prominent to mention here that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed gratitude over the acquittal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz in the Ramzan Sugar Mill case and said,“Alhamdulillah, Allah Almighty has vindicated us, we are grateful to Him.”
