Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif urged United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to take meaningful actions against Isreal’s genocide in Palestine and Lebanon on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
Reportedly, Shehbaz Sharif while addressing a high-level open debate of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on “Leadership for Peace”, strongly condemned the unlawful acts of Isreal in Palestine and Lebanon. He asked UNSC to take all the possible measures including the arm and trade embargo to stop Isreal genocide.
Shehbaz Sharif said, “We must compel Israel to halt its genocidal war in Gaza and prevent its attempts to provoke a wider conflict in the Middle East.”
The PM not only condemned Israel’s bombing in Lebanon but also raised his voice for a ceasefire and peaceful solution for the war in Ukraine.
It is clear that world sustainable development cannot be achieved without resolving the tragedies like Gaza and now Lebanon, he added.
Shahbaz Sharif reminded the Security Council about the Kashmir issue and said “It poses a great threat to international peace and security. The council must call for a halt to the massive violations of the fundamental rights of Kashmiri people and implement its own resolutions that demand a referendum for self-determination in Kashmir valley.”
UNSC should take all the possible effective measures to address the threat of terrorist organizations like ‘Fitna al-Khawaraij’ and play its due role in maintaining world peace and order, he added.
