Tragic attack in Duki: Over 20 miners killed in BLA-led assault

On Friday morning, the Balochistan area Duki suffered from an unfortunate incident, where armed men killed 20 miners and over seven injured. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the incident.
As per details, On October 11, 2024, Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan faced an unfortunate incident in Duki, where an armed man killed over 20 men and over seven were injured. These miners were working in small private coal mines. The police station house officer Humayun Khan informed the reporters, “A group of armed men attacked the Junaid Coal company mines in the Duki area in the wee hours using heavy weapons”.
According to Reuters, the attackers gathered the miners in one place and opened fire on them. Moreover, armed groups also fired rockets and grenades at the mines. Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack, Reuters added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza strongly condemned the attack and called it a brutal act and perpetrators of this attack must receive strict punishment.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and conveyed his sympathies to the families of the deceased workers. He also sought a report from concerned authorities and asked concerned authorities to eliminate terrorism in the country.
It is worth mentioning here that on Thursday, Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani assumed the duties of Acting President, as President Asif Ali Zardari left for Turkmenistan on a two-day visit.
