President Asif Ali Zardari who is on his official foreign visit to Turkmenistan met with Russian Primer Vladimir Putin on Friday. Both the counterparts talked about strengthening bilateral relationship between both the countries.
As per details, President Asif Ali Zardari went to Turkmenistan for his two-day official visit on Thursday to represent Pakistan at an international forum on “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations- Basis for Peace and Development”. This forum is held in the honor of a great Turkmen thinker, poet, and philosopher Magtymguly Faragi on his 300th birth anniversary.
According to the President House’s press release, President Zardari also addressed the forum in the presence of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rehmon, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and others.
The president laid stress on promoting connectivity through culture and economic cooperation among the regional countries. He praised the Turkmen people and leadership for hosting an interactive event to spread brotherhood, peace and understanding through dialogues.
The president also developed a connection between Pakistan’s national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal and towering figure of Turkmen literature Makhdum Gulli Fraghi. He also congratulated Turkmen nation on the announcement of 2024 as the “Year of the great poet and thinker of the Turkic world- Makhdum Gulli”.
It is worth mentioning here that President Asif Zardari had an unofficial meeting with Putin and discussed strengthening of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia.
