Dr Firdous announces scooties and small cars for female journos on easy installments

She said this while talking to the female journalists at an award show arranged in connection with the Women’s Day on Tuesday.

Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has announced to provide scooties and small cars to female journalists on easy installments through the Bank of Punjab.

She said this while talking to the female journalists at an award show arranged in connection with the Women’s Day on Tuesday.

To give a tribute to the female journalists on this year’s Women’s Day, Punjab Union of Journalists (PUJ), in collaboration with Lahore Press Club (LPC) and Women in Struggle for Empowerment (WISE), had arranged an award show at LPC.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan was the chief guest at the event while a huge number of women including WISE CEO Bushra Khaliq, LCCI Executive Member Uzma Shahid, LCCI Women’s Committee Chairperson and Senior Joint Secretary Atiya Zaidi, senior journalist Tamseela Chishti, Shahida Butt and Saba Mumtaz attended the event.

PUJ President Qamar uz Zaman Bhatti, LPC President Arshad Ansari and social activist Khurram Khan also attended the event.

Addressing the female journalists, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that female journalists were fighting a holy war in the present day world.

She announced to provide scooties and small cars to the female journalists on easy installments through the Bank of Punjab.

She also distributed awards and certificates among the female journalists and appreciated them for playing an important role in the society.

Qamar uz Zaman Bhatti said that job security should be ensured for the female journalists and the government should safeguard their legal rights in the society as well.

Arshad Ansari, paying tribute to the female journalists, said that female journalists were fighting for a cause and it was very appreciable on their part.

PUJ Senior Vice President Muhsen Ali Turk, PUJ General Secretary Khawaja Aftab Hassan and LPC General Secretary Zahid Chaudhary also participated in the event.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan distributed awards among senior female journalists Tamseela Chishti, Atiya Zaidi, Sadia Salahuddin, Farah Warraich, Samia Ijaz, Fakhra Tehreem, Waseem Fatima, Nasira Attique, Farzana Chaudhary, Shumaila Shabbir, Rubi Razzaq, Parveen Khan, Huma Bukhari, Khalida Yousaf, Dr Arifa Subho Khan, Rabia Azmat, Robina Nazir Chauhan, Rafia Naheed, Sadia Qureshi, Shahida Butt, Sadia Maqbool, Saba Mumtaz, Umme Farwa, Marwa Ansar Chaudhary, Sadia Khan, Naila Nadeem and Darakhshandaan Alamadar.

At the end of the event, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Bushra Khaliq, Robina Khan, Uzma Shahid, Firdous Kamran, Khurram Khan and Iqbal Shahid were presented souvenirs from the LPC and PUJ.
