Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Saturday that the government is going to take strict action against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Ali Amin Gandapur and all those who were involved in the unrest situation in Islamabad.
While talking to media in the presence of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar late on Saturday, Mohsin Naqvi said that the government will not spare the miscreants who attacked Islamabad today.
He said that we have arrested 564 people out of whom 130 people are Afghan nationals adding that KPK policemen were also among the troublemakers. He also said that a high-lever inquiry will be conducted against the use of KPK police officials in the Islamabad unrest.
He further said that some PTI leaders and analysts were waiting for some dead bodies to do politics and commentary over them but we tolerated even open firing from the miscreants and didn’t let them succeed in their motives.
He also said that now when the situation is under control and there is no protestor at the D-Chowk, nobody is allowed to stage the protest in Islamabad till the completion of SCO Summit.
To a question, he said that PTI goons wanted to hurt SCO Summit by blocking the roads and creating difficulties for the SCO Summit delegations.
He added that by effectively managing the situation, we crushed their strategy of hurting the SCO Summit.
To another question, he said that mobile phone service will be restored soon as the situation is better now. He also said that we shall not get into dialogues with the law breakers and strict action will be taken against them.
Earlier a few hours back, Mohsin Naqvi told the media that Ali Amin Gandapur was not ready to understand the situation and had crossed the red line. He also said that extreme measures would be taken against the law breakers.
He also said that nobody was allowed to sabotage the Shangai Cooperation Organization Summit to be held this month adding that it was the need of the hour to take extreme measures against the miscreants.
The interior minister also informed the media that local administration had placed blockades at Pathar Garh area, which the CM, KP crossed with heavy machinery.
He also said that PTI workers were continuously throwing teargas shells on the law enforcers injuring around 80-85 police officials who were provided the first aid or shifted to hospitals for treatment.
“Evidence have also surfaced that people were asked in the chats and groups to carry weapons with them,” Minister further added.
Holding Gandapur responsible for all the crisis situation, he said, “KP chief minister is leading the group that’s going to attack Islamabad”. And if they did so then no room would be left for negotiations, he added.
