The federal government has decided to start a nationwide crackdown on human smuggling, after the unfortunate incidence of the drowning of illegal Pakistani migrant boats to Europe.
As per details, on Sunday, while talking to the media Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi expressed grief over the death of Pakistani nation, who are illegally migrating by boat to Europe.
The Federal Minister informed the media that after this unfortunate incident, the directive are given to Federal Investigation Agency to lunch a nationwide crackdown on the human smuggling networks.
Naqvi claimed that the human smuggling mafias had destroyed countless families and they they must be eradicated from the roots.
He also informed the media that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued the directive to form the committee led by the additional secretary of the Ministry of Interior. The committee is responsible for submitting incident findings within five days of conducting an investigation.
As per foreign media reports, at least five Pakistani migrants drowned after their wooden boat overturned off Greece’s southern island of Gavdos.
On Saturday, Greece’s coastguard witnessed the said incident and confirmed that many were still missing as search operations continued.
As per foreign media reports, out of 39 illegal migrants most of them are Pakistani. The recused migrants have been transferred to the island of Crete.
Prime Minister Shehbaz has expressed sorrow and condolences over the loss of Pakistani lives in the tragic boat capsizing.
He emphasized the need for strict punishments and concrete measures to prevent such incidents in the future and called human smuggling a heinous crime that destroys numerous lives every year.
He stressed the importance of identifying and punishing those responsible to ensure such actions are not repeated. “Concrete steps must be taken to prevent such tragedies in the future,” he added.
It is worth mentioning here that President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed sorrow over the deaths of Pakistani migrants in the boat capsizing incident.
