Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif informed that the government is ready to hold talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) before their protest.
As per details, PTI has called for a protest on November 24, 2024, and has finalized their plan for a large-scale protest across the country, including marches towards Islamabad at any cost. PTI leadership has been vocal about their agenda.
Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif offered dialogue to the PTI opposition party before the protest. The offer came a day after PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, speaking to reporters in London, referred to the PTI protest as a planned agenda to disrupt Pakistan’s progress.
Answering a question regarding PTI’s protest and its potential impact on economic progress, Nawaz Sharif remarked, “I agree with you, but they will fail in their mission. They have to be held accountable for such practices before giving a call.”
Nawaz also questioned the reporters, “What has Imran Khan done during his tenure that would make people take to the streets on his call? Tell me a single [development] project that he could proudly present as evidence of development during his tenure.”
Nawaz Sharif accused former Prime Minister Imran Khan of ruining Pakistan’s reputation.
During a media talk, Asif said that the doors for dialogue with PTI are always open, but unfortunately, Imran Khan does not want to sit and talk with politicians or the establishment.
The Defence Minister claimed that the purpose of previous and upcoming planned protests is to pressure the entire system, especially the government, to release PTI founder Imran Khan.
He added that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is fearlessly and shamelessly using government machinery, including human resources, in all their protests solely to pressure the government to release Imran Khan.
He alleged that everyone in PTI, including Imran Khan, is a hypocrite and a liar. Khan’s children are living a comfortable life abroad, and even Bushra Bibi does not bring their children to lead the protest.
He stated that the November 24 protest would fail like previous PTI protests.
It is worth mentioning that Nawaz Sharif expressed confidence that such a protest would not be able to disrupt economic progress.
