Imran Khan for introducing electronic voting system in Pakistan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has declared to bring electronic voting system to make sure the ultimate transparency in the polling process.

While talking to the journalists on Tuesday, he said that electronic polling would be introduced in the country to make the elections fairer and transparent.

He also said that programme would also be introduced for the Pakistanis living abroad so that they may also participate in the elections.

NADRA’s resources would be used to introduce the electronic voting system in Pakistan, he said and added that Election Commission of Pakistan was also being asked in this regard.

He added that a bill containing such developments would be presented in the parliament soon.

The prime minister said that elections in Azad Kashmir and Senate were coming soon, while general election in Pakistan would be held in 2023.

He also said that the main purpose behind bringing these developments was to make sure the transparency in elections in Pakistan and boost people’s trust in the electoral process.

To end horse trading in the Senate elections, the prime minister declared to bring an amendment in the constitution to vote via show of hands instead of secret balloting.

He mentioned that PTI had not enough members in the parliament to approve an amendment in the constitution as it needed two-third majority to do this.

About PTI’s win in recently held elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, he reiterated his vision to grant provisional provincial status to GB to live up to the long desired demand of the people.
