Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif, after returning from his official visit to Qatar, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani through social media on Friday.
As per details, PM Shehbaz Sharif left the country on October 30, 2024, for a two-day official visit to Qatar. He was received by Pakistani Ambassador to Qatar, Muhammad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, and several other diplomats.
During the visit, the PM met with State of Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani as well as high-level delegations of the Qatar business community. He also visited the cultural exhibition “Manzar: Art and Architecture in Pakistan from 1940 to present” showcasing Pakistan’s rich cultural and architectural heritage.
The meetings between Qatar’s leadership and PM Shehbaz Sharif focused on establishing strong bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. Both parties agreed on investment, and trade and cooperation in several other fields.
While meeting with the Qatar Businessmen Association (QBA), the PM highlighted the numerous investment opportunities in Pakistan especially in the energy infrastructure and finance sectors.
A joint statement was also issued on Friday, November 1, 2024, from the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan upon the visit of PM Shehbaz Sharif to Doha. In the joint statement, both highlighted the importance of strengthening brotherly relations through working together on economic partnership, increasing trade exchange, and promoting investments.
During a press conference, Information and Broadcasting Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar also confirmed that Qatar had pledged to invest $3 billion in Pakistan. The cooperation between Qatar and Pakistan would extend across various sectors, including trade, investment, culture, and the economy, he added.
It is worth mentioning here that PM Shehbaz Sharif took to social media platforms to thank Qatar’s leadership for their exceptional hospitality. “Pakistan deeply cherishes and values its special friendship with Qatar,” he added.
