Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah met Chinese delegation of Belt & Road (B&R) Group on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. In the meeting, Murad Ali Shah showed interest in public-private partnership with Chinese investors.
As per details, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah met the delegation of Chinese investors to discuss public-private partnership with Chinese companies. The Chinese delegation was led by Belt & Road (B&R) Group Chairman Wan Xiaowu.
During the meeting, CM Murad Ali Shah while showing interest in the public-private partnership with Chinese investors said that Sindh government would facilitate private Chinese investors to set up their plants in the Karachi, he added.
Wan Xiaowu responded positively to CM Shah’s offer and informed him that almost 12 different top Chinese firms were interested in investing in Karachi. The investment from the Chinese firms would vary from waste-to-energy, wastewater treatment, desalination water plant, manufacturing of electric buses, and kits to convert patrol motorcycles to electric energy, and reconstruction of the sewerage system of the city, he added. It is worth mentioning that both the sides welcomed each other’s ideas and agreed to have another meeting soon in this regard.
Planning & Development Department and Board of Investment both will be the part of the future correspondence in terms of selection and negotiation so that work could be initiated in this regard.
