Federal Minister for Finance & Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb said on Tuesday that according to the new policy of the government non-tax filers will not be able to open a bank account, will not be able to buy property or vehicles.
As per details, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that the government is increasing the tax net in the country and for that a new strategy is being introduced that will impose certain restrictions on the non-tax filers.
He also said that real estate dealers, whole sale businessmen, distribution companies, and retailers would also be brought to the tax net but in a proper way.
He further said that the government would reduce the subsidy on wheat and sugarcane in phases.
To a question, he responded that the government has planned to introduce tax uniformity across the country and for that all the provinces would sign a new financial agreement that would ultimately empower the system of the country.
While responding to another question on the number of tax filers, he said that so far in the current year 500,000/- new tax filers have been brought to the tax net.
He announced that the government has gathered data from NADRA and other sources and in the light of that everybody with high income flows would have to pay tax.
