The inauguration of a solar energy water filtration plant was held the other day at Government College University’s (GCU) Kala Shah Kaku campus.
Vice President and Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Tanveer Hussain Bhatti and Human Necessity Foundation (HNF) Chairman Sheikh Javeed were the guests of honour at the inaugural ceremony.
The installation of this plant was completed with effort of Old Ravians Union (ORU).
After the ceremony, talking to the media, GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi said this plant would provide hygienic drinking water to the community. He said that life on our planet is due to water which is the greatest gift to human beings by Almighty Allah.
He said that this plant would ensure the supply of healthy and clean drinking water to the people of vicinity.
Speaking on the occasion, HNF Chairman Sheikh Javeed said that solving the issue of water is no uphill task, only determination and technology are required for it. He said that at a little cost, this plant will meet the requirements of the people.
ORU-VP Dr Tanveer Hussain Bhatti said that water is a basic human need and his union made a sincere effort to get this facility installed at the university. He further said that about 27,000 children are dying annually due to water-borne diseases.
At the end of the ceremony, the participants paid rich tribute to Fawad Bhatti and Bhatti family for donating the plant.
Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi, Sheikh Javeed and Dr Tanveer Hussain Bhatti inaugurated the Water Filtration P0lant. Ravians Galaxy Group Chairman Faisal Dar, Registrar Dr. Shoukat, Prof Dr Zaheer, Dr Kanwal Saeed, ORU Executive Member Sultan Saroya, faculty members and administrative heads of the university were also present on the occasion.
