Govt to ban TLP in Pakistan: Sheikh Rashid

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that the government has planned to ban Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan in the country for any political or nonpolitical activity and a summary in this regard has already been sent to the cabinet for approval.

While talking to the journalists on Wednesday, the interior minister said that the Government of Punjab had sought for the ban on TLP under the Terrorism Act 1997as the party was behind violent protests and rampage in the country.

He also said that, in the recent protests, two policemen were martyred and 340 others were badly injured while road blockades by the TLP workers caused serious problems for the general public.

He added that, like any other Muslim, the matter of Khatam-e-Nabuwwat is very important and dear to the government.
