Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz introduced ‘Punjab Dhee Rani Program’ on October 22, 2024 in a bid to uplift the underprivileged unmarried women in Punjab.

As per a recent survey, approximately 2 million women above the age of 35 years are unmarried in Punjab and one of the reasons of the low marriage ratio is poverty or unaffordability of the marriage expenses.

Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took a revolutionary step by introducing ‘Punjab Dhee Rani Program’ for the deserving unmarried women.

In the inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz announced that under this program each deserving newly-married couple will received Rs 100,000 cash through ATM along with furniture, household utensils, clothes, daily necessities and a feast for the 20 guests. She said, “Receipt of applications under the ‘Punjab Dhee Rani Programme’ for mass marriages has started. The applications can be submitted online at cmp.punjab.gov.pk. A dedicated Helpline 1312 has also been established for the programme. To maintain transparency in the programme, the applicants will be verified at their homes by the special teams.”

While talking to media, Maryam Nawaz showed her concern over the low marriage ratio and said that no daughter of any poor family will remain unmarried due to the financial burden.

It is also worth mentioning that CM Maryam Nawaz has already introduced various welfare programs in Punjab; one of them is the construction of houses under the name of ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar Programme’.

While talking further, she said that in a record period of only two months, the people who got the first installment of loan in Lahore, Kasur and other districts had started the construction of their houses vigorously.

CM Maryam Nawaz further said that more than 550,000 people had accessed the portal for the housing loans, while about 450,000 applications had been received so far.
